(Q) 11. Why should
I choose Rustic Fence to be my fence contractor?
(Q) 1. How do
I decide what kind of fence I need?
(A) First you need to determine what
you require of a fence. Do you want to achieve privacy, provide safety
around a pool, and retain pets or children? Maybe you have industrial needs
requiring extra strength and durability. What is your desired look
and location for the fence? Fences are available in many different materials
and styles. Our design consultants can explain the advantages and disadvantages
of various materials and their suitability for your job.
(Q) 2. What do
I need to know about local codes for fences?
(A) Building codes for fences vary
by state, county, city and even subdivisions. You can contact your city's
zoning department to determine exactly what the restrictions are. Codes
will determine easements, heights, styles and material types. Our experienced
design consultants are very familiar with most local codes and can assist
with compliance.
(Q) 3. What do
I do about buried underground utilities?
(A) Rustic Fence will contact all
utility companies for underground locates.
(Q) 4. What kind
of fence materials do you use?
(A) Fence materials can be used alone
or in combination with one another. Wood has a natural look with many different
styles to choose from. We offer residential and industrial chain link.
Vinyl coated chain link is very popular and comes in a variety of colors
to blend with the environment. Ornamental iron can provide a unique, custom
look. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is the newest, virtually maintenance free
material choice.
(Q) 5. I am considering
a wood fence, what is the difference between spruce & cedar?
(A) There are many differences between
spruce & cedar. Life expectancy is the major difference. On average,
a spruce fence will last 8 to 10 years. However, Cedar fencing will average
18 to 23 years. In addition, cosmetics play a differentiating role in spruce
& cedar. Spruce is almost white when it comes from the mills
and tends to have more knots. Cedar has a much darker tone and although
cedar also has knots, they tend to be sparser, yet larger in nature. Cedar
is also known to repel fleas and other insects. Ask one of our design consultants
for further information.
(Q) 6. Does
pressure treated lumber make good fence pickets?
(A) In some parts of the country,
yes, pressure treated pickets make better fence pickets. However, in hot,
humid climates such as Texas, pressure treated pickets have a tendency
to warp and cup. For this reason, Rustic Fence does not offer this line
of product.
(Q) 7. How
long should I wait to paint or stain my fence?
(A) We suggest allowing the wood
to weather naturally for at least 3 to 6 months prior to painting or staining.
(Q) 8. Can I buy
just the materials from you?
(A) Absolutely! We offer materials
only to the do-it-your-self customer. We have a well trained
staff to assist you in determining your needs and to answer your questions
about installation
(Q) 9. My dog
digs beneath my existing fence, is there anything I can do to stop this?
(A) There are different methods to
help prevent your dog from digging under a fence. The solution
Will depend on the size and determination
of your pet as well as the terrain of your yard. Kick-boards, extra wire,
concrete curbs or landscape timbers can be effective deterrents. The invisible
fence is also effective when used in conjunction with a traditional fence.
(Q) 10. What
kind of standards apply to fence products?
(A) Our crews and project managers
are well trained in ASTM standards for fence products and installation.
ASTM is the American Society for testing and materials. Rustic Fence
Co. is also a member of the American Fence Association and we subscribe
to the AFA Code of Ethics.
(Q) 11. Why should
I choose Rustic Fence to be my fence contractor?
(A) Rustic Fence has been building
fences since 1963. We offer expert installation of all kinds of fences
and access control systems. Our professional staff is well trained to assist
you in selecting the correct fence for your needs and budget.
